Welcome
Our research addresses the diversity of microorganisms in the environment, particularly viruses, which play an essential role in bacterial diversity, genome plasticity, and biogeochemical cycles.
Recently accumulated knowledge about the number of viruses, at least in marine environments, indicates that they probably cover all other life forms on Earth in their abundance and represent a huge reservoir of biodiversity. However, viral dark matter is an unknown world in which we may find great viral diversity with biotechnological potential.
